Dr. Istvan Jonyer is a Ph.D. computer scientist with over 22 years of experience in artificial intelligence, networking, telecommunications, and consumer electronics. He designed 3G wireless systems at Nortel Networks, led the global launch of Google TV with OEM partners like Sony and LG, and founded AI startups including Fantasy Brain and LifeAdapt. As a testifying expert witness, he has opined in U.S. District Court, ITC, PTAB, arbitration, and state courts on patent infringement, invalidity, breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation, and copyright issues, working with companies like Google, Apple, Netflix, Roku, Nokia, and Cloudflare.

His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Arlington (2003), with a dissertation on graph grammar induction, an M.Sc. (2000) and B.Sc. (1999) from the same institution, and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon (2010) focused on venture capital. Dr. Jonyer’s expertise spans machine learning, wireless communication, smart TV platforms, and software analysis, complemented by awards such as the Google TV Hall of Fame and Best Dissertation from UT Arlington.

In addition to his technical and legal work, Dr. Jonyer has served as a venture capital investor and advisor, conducting due diligence for firms like Sidespin Ventures and Nexstar Partners, and mentoring startups at Stanford and Carnegie Mellon. He excels at translating complex technologies into clear explanations for courts, juries, and clients, with a growing focus on defense-side engagements.
